The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG SP Union LA Bephies Beauty Supply Summer of ’96 reimagines the classic AJ1 design with distinctive, hand-stitched-looking detailing that runs around the entire upper. The design was created in collaboration with Jordan Brand, Union LA, and Bephies Beauty Supply, and pays homage to the summer when Chris Gibbs and Beth Birkett - the founders of the latter two brands - first met. The motif of connecting the shoe’s individual parts thus serves as both a design element and a reference to the story behind the project.The color scheme is based on shades of Sail, Wolf Grey, Muslin, and Pale Vanilla, complemented by subtle accents of Kinetic Green and University Gold. The light-colored base gives the silhouette a slightly distressed look, while contrasting stitching highlights the boundaries of the individual panels. The most eye-catching feature is the braided construction running around the upper, which in places resembles the decorative stitching found in handmade products.The upper is constructed from layers of fabric arranged according to the signature layout of the Air Jordan 1 High. The perforated forefoot, high collar, and classic lacing preserve the model’s recognizable silhouette, while the distinctive stitching visually separates the individual parts of the construction. The Swoosh logo remains on the side panels, and the Wings logo is placed near the ankle. Additional branding related to Union and Bephies Beauty Supply underscores the nature of the collaboration.The lower section retains the traditional Air Jordan 1 construction, featuring Nike Air cushioning hidden in the midsole and a rubber outsole with a concentric tread pattern.
