The Adistar Jellyfish builds on the athletic heritage of the Adidas Adistar line in a design intended primarily for everyday use. Pharrell Williams has transformed its basic construction into a more sculptural silhouette with exaggerated proportions, a boldly defined sole, and a multi-layered upper. The model was released under the name VIRGINIA, which serves as both a creative platform and Pharrell’s artistic pseudonym.
The design combines elements associated with running shoes with an elaborate lifestyle aesthetic. Instead of a classic, compact form, the shoe features visible layers, three-dimensional panels, and distinct transitions between the upper and the sole.
The most distinctive feature of the Adidas Adistar Jellyfish is its elaborate, wavy-shaped sole. Its form evokes fluid movement and the parts of a jellyfish’s body floating in water. This inspiration also extends to the shape of the branding and the way the lines are drawn on the sides of the shoe.
The upper features a layered mesh surrounded by external elements that create an exoskeleton-like structure. This combination adds depth to the silhouette and emphasizes its three-dimensional design. Select details glow in the dark, enhancing the design’s futuristic character.
The Adidas Adistar Jellyfish is available in both solid and multicolor versions. The Triple Black colorway uses black across nearly the entire shoe, bringing the layers of the upper and the sole profile to the forefront. The White colorway features a light, cohesive base that more strongly highlights the shoe’s architecture. Official global releases included, among others, the Triple Black, Royal Blue, and Triple White variants.
Royal Blue combines a deep blue color with lighter elements, while Real Green features a more intense shade of green. Focus Olive Orange pairs olive and orange accents, and Solid Grey Black is based on neutral shades of gray and black. Each variant retains the same scaled-down design but highlights its layers and wavy lines in different ways.

Triple Black and Solid Grey Black have a more uniform look, while Royal Blue, Real Green, and Focus Olive Orange more strongly emphasize the divisions between the mesh, the outer cage, and the sole.
