The Air Jordan 6 Retro Awake NY Midnight Navy was created as part of another collaboration between Jordan Brand and the New York-based brand Awake NY. The design utilizes the classic Air Jordan 6 silhouette but has been significantly reimagined through an unconventional combination of materials, contrasting stitching, and modified branding for both brands. The inspiration for the entire concept was the aesthetic of counterfeit goods and the way their visual language has, over time, seeped into contemporary fashion. The colorway combines several shades of blue. Midnight Navy features on the darkest sections of the upper, Light Blue brightens select leather panels, and the more intense Game Royal appears on the nubuck elements. The design is complemented by light Sail accents and subtle Infrared 23 details. The multi-layered combination of navy, light blue, and a bolder blue highlights the Air Jordan 6’s signature panel division and gives the upper a distinct sense of depth. High-quality leather and nubuck were used in the construction. The classic Air Jordan 6 perforations are paired with custom stitching lines, which intentionally give the design a less obvious look. The signature tongue, lace pocket, and lace lock have been retained. The Awake NY crown logo also appears on the upper, positioned next to elements characteristic of the Jordan line. The Air Jordan 6 Retro Awake NY Midnight Navy retains the sole construction typical of the AJ6. The Nike Air system is positioned both under the heel and in the forefoot, and its inclusion remains one of the technical references to the model’s original design. The chunky sole and high upper create the recognizable proportions of the Air Jordan 6, while the revised color scheme and finish clearly distinguish this version from standard retro releases. The most distinctive element of this collaboration is the combination of the classic AJ6 construction with a deliberately unconventional look inspired by counterfeit culture, which was significant to Awake NY founder Angelo Baque. The layered blue color scheme, unusual stitching, and Awake NY branding ensure that the model retains the recognizable Air Jordan 6 base while taking on a distinct character that stems directly from the collaboration’s concept.
