Dunk Low Off-White University Red

The Nike Dunk Low Off-White University Red is a reinterpretation of the classic 1985 Dunk Low model, created in collaboration with Off-White and Virgil Abloh. The design is based on a basketball silhouette that has since been adapted to skate and streetwear culture, but in this version it has been transformed through additional structural elements and a clearly defined layered look. The color scheme references university colors, in this case inspired by the UNLV palette.The upper combines a vibrant red with a cool shade of gray, which forms the foundation for the entire design. Red panels cover the front, the lacing area, and the back, creating a distinct division of the surface. The gray stabilizes the whole visually and gives the design a more technical character. An additional element is the orange laces routed through a secondary lacing system, which introduces another level of contrast and alters the perception of the classic layout.The upper construction uses smooth-surfaced natural leather, complemented by a textile tongue and exposed foam. The layered panel construction provides stiffness and shape retention, while perforations in the forefoot support airflow. The raw edge finish and visible structural elements align with Off-White’s signature approach to deconstructing classic models.The sole retains the classic layout known from the Dunk model, based on foam and a rubber outsole that provides traction. The low-profile construction enhances stability and direct contact with the ground, reflecting the model’s original purpose as a basketball shoe.The most distinctive element of this variant is the collaborative detailing. Typographic prints adorn the side panels, and the design is complemented by a plastic tag and an additional lacing system. The double lacing, exposed foam, and visible stitching create an unfinished look, which has become a hallmark of Virgil Abloh’s designs.
