The adidas Samba OG Pokémon Mewtwo is a special edition of the classic Samba released to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pokémon. The model is part of the adidas Originals anniversary collection, in which individual silhouettes are associated with specific characters. In the case of the Samba, the main theme is Mewtwo, and the design goes beyond simply incorporating its color scheme. The construction has been modified in several places so that specific details directly reference the character’s appearance. The release is scheduled for September 22, 2026. The Ice Lavender and Violet colorway features light shades of lavender paired with a deeper purple. This palette references Mewtwo’s signature colors and extends to both the upper and select elements of the sole and trim. Thanks to subtle tonal variations, the classic Samba OG panel layout remains clearly visible, even though the entire model is kept within a single color family. The most distinctive changes are found in the lacing system. The upper part of the eyelet panel has been modified to include three holes, a direct reference to Mewtwo’s three fingers. This is one of those elements that has been integrated into the shoe’s construction rather than simply added as a print. An image of Mewtwo is also featured on the tongue, making the connection to the character immediately apparent from the front. The rear is complemented by a shimmering purple element on the heel, which further emphasizes the character of the overall color scheme. At the same time, the basic features of the Samba OG have been preserved: a low profile, a sleek silhouette, the three adidas stripes on the side, and the distinctive sole construction. As a result, the model remains recognizable as a Samba, but specific changes in the details clearly set it apart from standard editions. The adidas Samba OG Pokémon Mewtwo was thus created as part of a major anniversary collection celebrating 30 years of Pokémon. Mewtwo is featured in several separate adidas models within the collection, and the Samba stands out with a more subtle approach based on a lavender-purple color palette, graphics on the tongue, and modified lace eyelets inspired by the character’s anatomy.
